Terms of service

These terms cover your use of Smarty Pets (“the service”). By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Accounts

Accounts are for families and are created by an adult (18 or older) who is responsible for the account and for the kids who play on it. Keep your sign-in email and parent PIN to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has access.

Your content

The words and definitions you enter, and your kids' progress, stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the service for you (for example, to write examples and record voices for your words). Please only enter content you have the right to use, like your school's word list for your own child.

Generated examples, tips and stories are written by AI to match your definitions. They're shown to kids only after a grown-up approves them, so please read them before you tap Approve.

Plans and billing

  • New families get a 14-day free trial. After that, the family plan is $5.99 a month, billed monthly through Stripe until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time in the parent area; your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time.
  • If a payment fails, kids can keep playing for a short grace period while it's retried; after that, play pauses until the plan is renewed.
  • If we ever change the price, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you.

Using the service

Please don't misuse the service: no trying to access other families' data, break or overload it, or copy and resell it. We may suspend accounts that do.

The fine print

We work hard to keep Smarty Pets running and accurate, but it's provided “as is”, without warranties, and it isn't a substitute for your child's school or teacher. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time; we may end the service with reasonable notice and will let you download your data first.
